Wow. Another sweet machine. This Kenmore is a model 158.13011 or shortened, Model 1301.
Louie and I found it at the the Salvation Army in Illinois for a pretty good price. We bought it with the sole intention of donating it to The Sewing Machine Project.
I had to figure it out by myself, since it didn’t come with a manual and I couldn’t find one free online, but it didn’t take long for me to do that. I cleaned and oiled it before I test sewed with it.
This one will definitely make someone a nice machine…if I let it go. I love the color, and cosmetically, it is in very good shape. It is really quiet and smooth.
Your so lucky at finding these great machines ,this one is a beauty .What a blessing you are to this charity .
ReplyDeleteMachine number 2,465???? Have fun! I got some Kenmore needles this weekend, now to figure out which machines they work with.
ReplyDeleteI really truly admire your dedication to restore old machines and then to pass them on or keep them whatever you decide! That is such a talent and dedication you have!

I am pumped. I went out and checked the sewing machine project and there's a drop off, right here in Austin! And, I have two machines, sitting in the living room floor that I was trying to decide what to do with and there's one at goodwill for $15 that likely needs just a tweak to make it work again. Now, I have a way to rescue all three. Thanks! Lane
ReplyDeleteYou know I hardly ever get to Goodwill or the likes. Today I had 15 mins before meeting Lori and ran in the local Goodwill. Finally found some jeans to try on, had a fit ;), one fit and paid and left.
ReplyDeleteI never looked for sewing machines!! Argh!! I suppose you already got that one. ;)
Hi Michelle
ReplyDeleteI love the Kenmores like this. My 96 and my 511 are just so wonderful. I have an 84 that I replaced a gear last November but I have to time it now. They are great machines. I know how you feel.
Love your blog
