First Egress Window Complete!

In my previous post, I showed Louie working on getting the window out. Here is a continuation of it. Here, he has removed the bottom edge of the frame. See how mortar still has to be chipped away to make it smooth? This window was originally set down in wet mortar when the house was being built 45 years ago. Here, he's prying the sides off, which will also allow the top edge of the frame to come out too.Woo hoo! The window frame is OUT! We removed the glass right away to make it easier to work. You wouldn't believe how long it took him to get to this point! Well, I guess THAT won't be of any use to anyone. Here, Louie has chipped the window opening down so the window fill fit inside it. Here he is attaching the top edge of the window frame to the mudsill. He then shimmed and caulked the sides, inside and outside....He filled the bottom edge with expandable foam, taping the front so it didn't come out all over inside the house. We let it set a couple nights, (last night it was storming), then tonight we trimmed away the excess foam.
Then he filled in the bottom edge with silicone caulk to keep weather and critters out.I picked up the debris under the window....
...and touched up the paint on the inside, around the window (this picture is before I painted)...
...washed the curtain, and here it is all finished, with the curtain back up. Ta da!Just so you can see the difference without looking back on the previous post, here is the old window before we tore it out.
It's 12am! What am I still doing up? Good night!
