Floral Table Topper

Sunday, while Louie was chipping away at the mortar around our OLD (45 years) embedded egress basement window........... and chipping some more...............

and sawing through the metal frame, trying to get the frame UN-mortarred...........and PRYING.........and SWEATING...........
I cut out thirteen floral wedges and thirteen 4 3/4" squares for the prairie points, and started working on another table topper like the patriotic one I made on Thursday night. I decided not to be angry anymore and just accept the fact that my table topper will be ODD (like me). It works, so who cares how many wedges I have, right? (Just remember, WEDGES are better to have than WEDGIES!)Here it is sewn together, with the prairie points attached ready for the backing. Here it is completed........... And here it is on my coffee table, peeking out from under my tray that holds my teapot, cup and creamer, for my pretend tea party. More basement window pictures will be coming soon! The first one is in, but I have a few finishing touches to do yet, like touch up the paint and put a clean curtain back up, before I post the pictures and show the installed window. We have two more windows to do, but I promise I won't post any more window installation pictures other than the first one. We hope to do at least one this coming weekend, maybe two. We are going to look into an electric mortar breaking tool we can rent for the remaining two windows. With all the chipping of mortar, sawing, prying and practically blasting out the window frame, then installing the new one, it took Louie about 3 1/2 hours. Definately the hardest window to do yet! We trimmed the expanding foam tonight, and did the final caulking of the window frame, both outside and inside.

  2. The window sure looks like a lot of work. I'm sure you'll be glad to have them all finished.
The table topper is very charming (I like your saying), I feel like it would be fun to be invited to your tea party.
