Starting Over....Again

After a few years of collecting dust in our garage, I found a new place for our treadmill. I bought it from my sister, brought it to our garage, where it got used a couple times, and then it was buried under boxes. Friday, I made the move. I had to do some fancy dancing to get it in the house, as it weighs ALOT. I tried getting it in through the door by myself, which I failed miserably at. I had to call for backup, (and the jaws of life), but we got it unwedged from the doorway, and into the kitchen. While my rescuer continued on his way, I moved a chair from this bedroom out into our living room (another challenge in itself). I later got the treadmill down two hallways by myself by putting a blanket under it and pushing it to the doorway of the room. Louie later helped me get it up over the edge of the carpet, and in it's place. I had to do a lot of other rearranging throughout the house to make everything fit, but the treadmill is now in it's place.

This bedroom has a nice television we can watch while walking, and Louie and I both have ipods we can listen to as well. We are going to make ANOTHER honest attempt to get ourselves back into better health than we are right now. I need to be able to sleep better, and although I do not have any serious health issues, I find I cannot even sing a song without running out of breath. I don't sing great, but I cannot even sing a whole sentence without running out of breath. I also feel my back issues might resolve themselves if I was in better shape. As for the weight issue, I WOULD like to lose some weight. About five years ago, Louie and I went on a diet plan, which at the time worked very well, but we did get bored with it after a few years, and slowly, we have both gained a good share of it back. Neither one of us want to be where we started out again. Louie and I both walked on the treadmill this morning. I walked for a half hour, and walked just over a mile. For most of my walk, my speed was 2.8 mph. That's about as fast as my short legs will let me walk. I don't want to run.
Please keep us in your prayers that we can be faithful to use this gift we have to get healthier, and not waste the opportunity. We both want to look and feel better. As we get older, we realize just how important health is. How many times as a 'kid', did you hear your parents, when you asked them what they wanted for a birthday or Christmas say, 'I just want my health (and for you to be good)' and you thought, 'What a stupid thing to wish for!' As the years mount up, and more and more aches begin to appear, I realize now, what they meant. Health is one of the most important blessings you can have. Your whole life depends on your health. I also need to be reminded that my body is not my own, and needs to be treated better than I have been treating it. Gods word says so!

19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

  1. Oh, yes, I can relate. Unfortunately, every treadmill I've ever seen was in someone's garage with "stuff" hanging on it. lol

You and Louie could change that trend! Go Michelle and Louie!!!

  2. What a wonderful challenge for the new new year!

Here is wishing you lots of stamina as you once again try to change bad habits into good ones.

Now if my sweet man and I could just follow your lead. I will be praying for your endeavor.

  3. Good for you and Louie! My husband is in excellent shape since he is an avid year round tennis player(5-7 days a week) but alas, I'm pretty pitiful. I have great hopes, too, of making healthy changes in my life.
