You Better Sit Down for This!

Ok now, I don't want you to faint, so you better sit down (oh yea, if you are at a computer, you probably ARE sitting down.) Ok, so anyway, I finally got revved up about doing something QUILTY!!!!! Seems miracles DO happen every now and then.

My friend Patty (nope, she doesn't blog) and I were talking about May Britt's Hexagon quilt tutorial over at Abyquilt (yes, that is where I borrowed the 3 jolly snowmen I have on my blog), so I decided since I didn't have a jelly roll, I would just 'play' with the pattern until I decided on a jelly roll. I went to my fat quarter stash and pulled out 20 fat quarters. Now, I have discovered, I have more fabric than I could have got with a jelly roll, and now, it has gone from 'playing' to 'officially' sewing a quilt top! I cut 6 little stacks of strips, which are each 22" long, 2 1/2" wide.
Sitting on my sewing machine are 13 half hexagons, which is one row, ready to be sewn.I have done 8 rows so far. At this rate, it should be a very nice sized quilt.I guess you know what I'll be doing tomorrow! I just love it when I can do a project taken completely out of my stash, and never have to leave the house! With all the stash I have, I could sew for 10 years and never leave the house. If you don't believe me, click HERE!

I hope you are all ok, and didn't need any smelling salts or medical assistance to revive you from the shock!
Have a wonderful Sunday!

  1. Michelle,

That is just gorgeous! I am going to have to send your blog site to my Aunt Judy. She is the quilter in our family. She has blessed each of my children with their own special lap quilts. She has made me one too...but I must admit that I have taken a couple of my kid's from time to time and displayed them over a chair in my bedroom.

When they move out one day I will let them take their quilts...well, maybe.

  3. This is going to be beautiful. And doesn't it feel great to use only from your stash.

  4. Way to go, girl! I need to go back and look at that tutorial again. I've been half-heartedly working on making hexagons one by one for several years now and have pitiful results. Thanks for the inspiration and I'm thrilled to see you sewing again!

  6. I just knew you'd start quilting again. Doesn't it make you feel great being able to use out of your stash?
Today is my turn to start reorganizing my stash, unless I get distracted.
I've bookmarked the tutorial and definetly want to try one. Thanks for sharing with us.

  8. OH MY GOSH!!!! Just playing! It is nice to see you sewing again! But I loved you anyway even when you didn't sew! You are such a wonderful person!!!

I have that saved from May Britt's blog too! I love that! That would probably be the only hexagon quilt that I would ever make! :)

It is nice that you can just pull from your own stash! I am coming shopping at your house!!!!
