Quilts For Kids—One Done!

Yesterday was our November quilting get together of the ‘Loose Tensions’.  We decided this month that we would make Quilts for Kids for the Iowa Chapter (see logo on side bar and click for more information). The kits were supplied by Quilts For Kids, cut, and all ready to go. Renea (no blog, but I’m trying to get her to make one!) had already started making quilts for this organization and we wanted to help.  Here we are, all making quilt tops.

It was a very productive day. Most of us got our quilt tops finished and some of us started on another one.

My second one. I will be quilting both of the tops I finished, and Christie’s.

It felt good knowing we are touching other’s lives by making quilts. I hope we do this more often!

Be blessed, and have a GREAT week!

This picture was a caricature done for us in 1985 while we were visiting friends in Minnesota. We went to Valley Fair in Shakopee, and had this done while we were there.

*******UPDATE*******

This is the first quilt top I worked on. I got it quilted, bound and washed today (Sunday). One down, two to go!

  3. An excellent way to spend the day with quilting friends! Quilts for Kids makes it so easy to participate in such a great cause. The kit I was sent had bright green and orange and sports themed focus fabric. I'm going to suggest to my stitch group that we spend the day doing what you did!

  4. Doesn't it feel great to help others ,do you get to deliver them ? This Sat. we are taking 70 to a nursing home last year it was such fun and some sorrow watching the elderly receive them .I remember one lady last year received hers and said " this is beautiful I don't deserve it "with tears in her eyes .I had to leave the room I just couldn't hold back my tears .I feel so blessed that I am able to help and bring some joy these people .
