Loose Tensions Christmas Party, Etc.

Yesterday, we had our December Loose Tensions Christmas party/Margaret’s birthday party/ quilting get together. There were lots of gifts, and lots of neat ideas!

Lots to eat!

My friend Renea made these cute pin cushions. They were a HIT! I’m trying really hard to talk her into a blog. She is SEW talented! Please help me encourage her!

This was my project. I found some letter openers at a thrift store…like 15 of them. They had a medallion on them.  Great River Road Canada to Gulf.

I removed them, and replaced them with a big button with a ribbon tied through the button holes. I love them! I wish I could find more letter openers like these so I could make more!

…AND, despite all the activity, food and fun, I actually sewed yesterday! Can you believe it? Here are some of my blocks laid out, and a pile of finished blocks.

011

I have several more blocks to make, but I plan on doing that today while I watch my annual pick of Christmas movies…Prancer and The Preacher’s Wife…and then some!

We needed to run a few errands after quilting was over, so (of course) we had to stop at a few thrift shops. I found these two wall hangings. The one on the left was $1.38 and the one on the right was 88 cents. SCORE! They are cute, but I LOVE the buttons on them.

Other treasures I got, were the two cones of black thread for $1.25, the box of cards for 50 cents, and the tin of buttons, including the 21 LARGE buttons in the bag, embroidery floss, hooks and eyes, thimble, hand sewing needles and spools of thread for 50 cents. I love bargains! Oh, and there is a large piece of Christmas fabric in the goodwill bag, that is either a twin flat sheet, or a large rectangular tablecloth for $2.38. It’s in the laundry right now.

Well, I’m OFF Confused smile to sew! It’s almost noon so better get stitching! Have a great day all!

Be blessed!

  11. I've been so crazy busy here that I haven't been to a thrift store in ages (except to drop off stuff). Can you tell how far behind I am by seeing how late I am in reading this post? I'm still making gifts that should have been mailed weeks ago. Oh well. Merry Christmas!
