Homemade 409

Last week, while I was telling people about the homemade products I have been making at work, and sharing what I have tried, one of my coworkers asked if there was a recipe for 409. I Googled, and I came up with a recipe from The Frugal Girls. Click the photo below, and you will be taken to their website for the recipe.

409 001

I made it, and love it. It was easy, it smells good, and it works great! Following my coworkers suggestion of what she would do with her homemade 409, I now use it as a laundry pre-treater on my oily, mineral spirit-y (is that a word?) work shirts before I throw them in the laundry. (Oh, you didn’t know I had a dirty job?) It works great and makes my shirts smell even better! Oh, mine is green, because instead of original Dawn, I used the Apple Scented Dawn.

Let me know if you have tried it, if you like it, and what you use it for.

Ps. Oh yes, there is more than 16 oz there. If you know me, you will know that if they say one batch is good, I might as well make two! Rolling on the floor laughing I saw a cute photo the other day that I think describes me pretty well.

  1. I am loving the homemade products, too! I've been making my own laundry soap for over 10 years. =)

  2. That's funny, I did that one time when I ran out of pine sol and just threw the same ingredients together.

  5. Thank you for the link. For once the ingredients are standard staples in my house. The cartoon about sums it up here, too. Have a great weekend.
