Kenmore Badge Letter Opener and Singer Reverse Lever

IMG-20121123-00101

Yesterday, on Thanksgiving, Louie refabricated an old letter opener we bought while thrifting, into a Kenmore (badge) letter opener, while I sewed.

I found the badge on ebay, bought it, and Louie worked his magic. The badge is off an old Kenmore sewing machine that someone removed while scrapping the machine.

He removed the medallion from the old letter opener, then he made a round black piece to set the medallion in, and glued it up. I like it!

He also fabricated a metal piece to slide over the reverse lever on this sewing machine. We brought this machine home with us, from our Volunteer day in Madison last week. The lever was broken off just about ‘flush’ with the front of the machine. Now it can go back and be passed along.

  2. I think we sometimes need days when we don't get much done but just enjoy a rest and relaxation type of day!

you Never KNOW what you will find on ebay do you???

my oldest childhood friend is cleaning out her mama's attic and gave me some neat sewing items but I encouraged her to keep her mama's Singer Touch and Sew which was quit the rage in the 60"s as I remember...first self winding bobbin?

  4. I worked hard today! I went to my oldest daughter's house and organized her kitchen and laundry room. We spent nearly 5 hours re-organizing the kitchen cabinets and sorting out untold numbers of pantry things. I was thrilled that she asked and she was thrilled with the results. :) blessings, marlene
