I say II because this was the second time I got to sew with the Park View ladies.
Last Thursday, August 29th, I had my gallbladder removed, so I had some time off work this week to recuperate. On Tuesday, while I was off, I drove down to Park View to sew with the Lutheran Quilting Ministry. While I was there, I delivered the thread catchers I have been making. Not everyone was there, but the ones who were there got their bags. My ‘picture snapping friend’ Kay, who is standing to the right of me had the church secretary snap our picture. (I’ll forgive her…. someday. Oh how I hate photos of myself.) Oh, and when we were picking things up and putting things away, we did not have to even run the vacuum cleaner because the thread catchers pretty much had all the threads taken care of. 
This lady had to leave early for a doctor’s appointment, so Kay snapped her picture early.
When I arrived, I asked for a smaller quilt top to sew, because last time, I asked Kay if she could stay a little longer so I could finish my top. I got this one done in plenty of time for us to get out of the church on time. This one is a couple rows shorter, and for someone in a nursing home. If you look behind me, you will see 3 bags and another one barely visible, of fabric. My friend KT sent them with me to donate to the cause. The ladies were thrilled to get them!
I also brought home three more kits to sew at home, and I sewed this one together on Wednesday, after I looked at a friend’s sewing machine. I decided if I could sew this top with her sewing machine without any problems, it should be fixed. It sewed every stitch beautifully.
Today I have been cutting pieces for some blocks that the Loose Tension Quilters (that’s us) will sew on September 14th. I took my turn early without drawing, for the choice of fat quarters, and for teaching a block. After the girls all sew one block, I can sew the blocks into rows, and finish making the quilt top. I made one block today to try it out, and I am very happy with how it turned out. I can’t show it until the 14th, because I want it to be a total surprise to the girls sewing the blocks.

I am sure all the ladies loved their thread catcher bags. Love the quilt that you sewed after being the angel who fixed my sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteGood use of your time recuperating enjoying doing something you like to do! That was a good idea with the thread catchers; I'm sure very handy and it did seem to help with cleanup indeed! Nice looking quilts!

Great work. But I am going to scold you about taking it easy while recuperating. Please take things easy, no moving sewing machines around! While painting a room (moving and climbing ladders) MONTHS after having my gall bladder out laperoscopically, the incision at my navel herniated, and I had to have another surgery to repair it...that surgery was harder than the first one. So please take care and heal well.
