Yesterday, after Louie left for the day to go to his annual ‘end of season team pool tournament and awards outing’, I attacked the kitchen with elimination of ‘stuff’ in mind.
Why do I think I ‘need’ all the ‘stuff’ I have?
I did manage to get a few things boxed up and eliminated before I pooped out. This also includes the ‘stuff’ from the bedroom I worked on Saturday. I filled the recycling bin again too. Louie just emptied it Saturday morning.
I pooped out before I even got to the upper cupboards, so there will be another ‘round’ of eliminating. I also was reminded that I don’t get up off the floor very easily anymore. (Sigh….at least I didn’t have to call anyone for help ) I did manage to get it vacuumed, picked up and livable until I ‘hit it’ again. It felt good, but would have felt better had I finished.
Do you bring ‘stuff’ in just to haul it back out later too? I MUST find a new hobby rather than ‘junkin’, or, I just need to be more selective in my purchases…but I think I already have been doing that……I don’t bring much home with me anymore.
Make yourself a rule - if you bring something in, something has to go out. I'm told this works. I wouldn't know personally. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteBravo well done on the elimination process. Your kitchen looks inviting and charming. I think that downsizing or eliminating is a skill like quilting. With practice it gets easier. Generally what works for me is needs assessment, if I haven't used something in over two years, why do I still own it. This of course does not apply to sewing machines, thread or fabric.
ReplyDeleteYou can come clean at my house anytime ;) I've gotten more selective in what I bring home. I try to figure out where I'm going to put it before I buy it. That makes me put lots of stuff back on the shelf. I did bring home another machine, but, it was a gift, not a purchase.
