I'm Beginning to REALLY Dislike Winter!

The following pictures are after Louie spent the entire day blowing snow on Wednesday, OVER AND OVER again. I wish I had the before pictures, but I can't do that when I am at work holed up with no windows to look out. The only time I got to look outside was when I walked away from my job, and physically opened the back door (which was not an easy task) to look out. Louie got up in the morning and took me to work, along with a friend and coworker of mine from out of town, who had stayed overnight, then came home and started clearing snow. At 6am, we had about 5 inches of snow on the ground. He blew that out, then went to work. He works at a FORD dealership as a service manager, but his day ended early there, as they decided to throw the towel in the ring and try again another day. I work at a factory, and as long as we were there, we stayed. By the end of the day, though, our parking lot had to literally be dug out so we could go home. Louie came and picked us up, so at least they didn't have to dig my van out. I'm sure they were quite grateful. I have never seen as much snow in one day, like this, in all my life, at least that I can remember. In total, we got over 14" of snow. They predicted for the winds to kick up from 25-35 mph, but I didn't see that happen, at least not in town as much as probably happened out in the open spaces of out of town. (Keep in mind, that on Sunday night, we got several inches too. I didn't know anything was coming, and I think the weather people didn't know either. I had driven 35 miles south to see my sister, and in an hour and a half's time, at least 3 inches had fallen, and I drove home in that nasty stuff, 'white knuckling' it all the way. I did a lot of talking to the Lord on the way home, BEGGING, SINGING, and PRAISING. God is good, and he delivered me home safely. ) Back to Wednesday............

This is a picture of my neighbor's tree and my driveway. These pictures were taken Thursday at 4:45pm when I got home from work. Here is a picture of my mailbox, and my neighbor's home on the other side of my house.
Gee, think I ought to take down my Christmas wreaths sometime? Oh, maybe I should leave them up for Valentine's day!
I am SO READY for winter to be over! I just pray that our May-June storm/tornado season is not as severe as our winter has been. We have had record snowfalls this year, and higher totals of snowfall in Maquoketa than we have had for decades. I hope all this moisture does some good for SOMETHING. A coworker, the other day, said, 'Michelle, does the saying go, February showers brings March flowers?' We can only hope!

  3. I'm with you. I'm so ready for all this snow to end. I don't even want to leave the house til it's gone. Hibernate, anyone? I'm ready to plant tomatoes and be outside again. Sick of the snow! I'm done with that rant for the time being......

  4. You guys could at least share the snow with those of us who want it! I would love to have a snow storm like that. We haven't had that much in 10 years and we're in a drought.

  7. I would glady take a LITTLE bit of your snow. I love snow, maybe not that much snow, but I would love to get a good snow here in Kentucky. I think this winter season we have only had a total of 4 inches. And that is the whole winter.
