Peonies

Well, they are already looking a little weather-worn, but I did get a few pictures of my peonies before the rain and wind completely ruined them.
The closeups look much better. I am using this picture as my desktop wallpaper!
These are the only flowers I have at my house. These were here when we moved in, and these blossoms are the only pretties I get to enjoy all year, but that is my fault, since I am not a gardener, and have no desire to tend flowers. Since these take no maintenance, they work out just fine for me.
The only drawback is that they are short lived.
This picture was taken standing in our neighbor's yard under his tree looking toward our house. (Yes, that is a concrete bear with a winter coat on. I guess I need to get her summer dress on before she melts!) The front door you see under the porch leads into our living room, and the living room goes all the way to the left to the front of the house. Our living room is 13' x 23', and I love it!
And yes, the lawn DOES need mowing. It's hard to keep up with, with all the rain we have been getting. It is SO humid here...like 89% humidity and 92*, which makes for wanting to be inside. It is a shame how we wait all winter to be outside, only to be chased back into the air conditioner, because we don't like the humidity.

  1. I'm with you on the humidity thing. It's horrible here today. I'm not going to complain about the heat or humidity though, since it's how we make our living. I'm lucky my husband is so good at what he does. Your peonies are beautiful. Mine are just budding.

  2. The flowers are so pretty..too bad they don't last longer. Too much rain is not good - but I have seen my share of drought and I really don't want that at all.

    Take care...

  3. Your flowers are beautiful!!! Such pretty colors! It is so hot here today too. We even ordered out for dinner so that I didn't have to heat up the kitchen.

  4. I love your pee-OH-nies! I missed my paltry few this year. I want my husband to trasplant them to a better spot if that's possible. Those and hydrangeas are my favorites.
