A 'Poopy' Kind of Day

A while back, as I was sitting here blog jumping, I came upon a blog called STITCHINBYTHELAKE. On one of her posts, as I was reading her comments, I clicked on a comment left by Lori at Mountain woman at heart. The post I read there showed where Lori and her husband Dan and some friends had been to Savanna Illinois on their Goldwing the very same day as Louie and I had been through Savanna on our Goldwing. As I was reading her posts, I read one that told how they had been at Maquoketa Caves State Park! Ok, now, how much closer could they have gotten to us?

Now for those of you who know me, I am not very outgoing, but I can hide behind emails, so I emailed Lori and asked her where she lived. She was kind enough to answer me, and we have communicated back and forth several times, and agreed that today, Louie and I, and Lori and Dan would meet at Poopy's in Savanna for lunch. What a wonderful treat that was. Here's some pictures of our day. This first one is in our driveway getting ready to go.
This gal was our waitress, Brenda. We especially requested her (well, the fact is, we already had a waitress, so we got rid of her promptly asked politely if we could trade her for Brenda) as she is a friend of ours. Louie and I have known Brenda for about 25 years. She has been our hairdresser for that long (no, I have not always had buzzed hair). I told Dan and Lori I could remember when her son was just a toddler, and when she was pregnant for her daughter, who by the way, also works part time at Poopy's. They were so busy today, that they called Brenda's daughter to come in and work, but we left before she got there....And, here are our new friends, Lori and Dan. What sweet people!Thank you, Dan and Lori, for meeting us today. What a gift we have been given! The Miracle of Friendship

Is there any miracle on earth to compare with that of discovering a new friend, or having that friend discover you? So much is at stake, but I will gladly risk everything to give a promising relationship a chance. ~Alex Noble~

It's amazing the friends you get when you pluck up the courage to take that first step. I'm shy like you and find that hard, even through email.
    enjoy your new friendship
