Oh, Those DARN Responsibilities!

Sew... I have been dreaming of getting a Janome 6600 for a long time. I DON'T NEED it, but I want it. I THOUGHT I was going to have a way of buying one soon, but then..........I had to pay for some repairs on my van. Remember in June, when I posted this picture of my van's wrecker ride? Well, my favorite van needed some more work, and I needed to pay the bill..... ....and see this refrigerator? I have one just like it. Do you know what happens when ice cream turns to soup? You call the repairman, and he tells you your compressor is shot. Do you know that a compressor fix is about one fourth to one half of what a new refrigerator would cost? We had to decide to either buy a new refrigerator, or fix this one. I mean, what can go wrong worse than a compressor? Louie and I are not hard on our appliances. This fridge is about 12 years old and it still looks new inside and out. The other things that could go wrong are small potatoes compared to the price of a compressor and service call, (and Louie could fix everything else that could go wrong). So then, we had to decide if we wanted to use ice chests forever, (and OH, wouldn't my kitchen look lovely?) and buy the Janome, OR fix the refrigerator. Oh, decisions, decisions!

I guess you know what we decided. We HAD to be responsible. I'm just GRATEFUL this didnt happen AFTER I bought the Janome.

Sew........I guess my dream will have to wait a little longer, but what WILL I sew on? (HUMOR, ARRR ARRR, as Mork would say---Oh oh, I'm showing my age...oops! Do you all remember Mork and Mindy?) I ONLY have about a dozen other machines!DARN that old RESPONSIBILITY thing!

  1. Oh I used to love Mork and Mindy!

Being a grownup is no fun. You'll get your machine one day.

  3. I just hate it when life gets in the way of fun stuff! We've had a couple of weeks like that as well. First the computer dies on me in New Orleans, then the vaccum is on it's way out big time. Dna was able to patch it together to get by but won't be able to patch it again, so we're to look for a new vaccum soon. At least teh computer was a fun purchase, other than the paying for it part. The vaccum isn't fun at all!

  4. Some times being grown up and having responsibilities is just no fun at all...oh well, must move on.

The time will come when you can get a new machine. Meanwhile, don't you have several machines you could pick from if you had to sew.

Hey, maybe you will get a big income tax check...or how about contacting Congress for a bail out check and buy one....or perhaps Obama will send you a big stimulas check...I know I am dreaming.

    Take care, lady bug!

  5. When it rains it pours doesn't it.

hopefully this will be all the big payouts you'll have to make for a while and you can get your janome then.

I used to love Mork and Mindy. They still show it over here now and again.

    Love and hugs Ginaxx

  9. Hi Michelle, I found you through Kristie's blog. I have spent quite a bit of time reading on your blog and I'm still not done. I love your stash, and such a creative way to store it. I used to watch Mork and Mindy all the time. I still laugh when I think about him sitting on his face. LOL I am a neighbor from Missouri. I am thinking about trying that hexagon quilt. It is so pretty. I have just finished the top to a rooster quilt that almost got the best of me, but I won. Now I am looking for something easier to play with. Sorry life had to get in the way of you getting your new Janome. I love Janome, by the way. Well, just wanted to comment and tell you how glad I am to have found your blog. Winona
