Quilty Junkin’ Treasures!

Last weekend, on Saturday, Louie and I went junkin’. We needed to drop a couple of his rings at the jeweler (well, his ONLY rings) for repairs, so after we went to the chiropractor, we went junkin’.

Now keep in mind, I did not find all these Goodies in one place, but isn’t this a pretty stack of ‘junk’? The pillow, same pattern and technique to one I made at a retreat, was $1.38 at Goodwill in Bettendorf. I think I paid $10 for the kit to make mine.

These two shams were found in Clinton Iowa at Goodwill ($2.38 each). I love the quilting on them, and may have just found a new design, apart from my meandering and loop-d-loops. The quilting looks like the top half of a heart. You quilt the top half, then continue on down, make an upside down half heart, go back up and make the top half of the heart again, and repeat. I think I could do that! You just never know when, or where you will find inspiration!

This new kitchen towel, which I will use for ‘show only’ since it is white, was $1.38. I found this in Clinton too.

These two (stacked) pillow shams were priced together, at $1.65 at the DAV store in Davenport Iowa.

This one was 65 cents at DAV in Davenport.

This table runner was $2.38 at Goodwill in Moline Illinois.

Other goodies I bought were some buttons, elastic, a puppy patch (all bagged together) (65 cents), a jar of T pins (65 cents) , three lanyards for scissors (88 cents each), a 3-hole punch $2.38), an unopened dvd of ‘Best Little Whorehouse In Texas’ ($5.38), and a cute tin spool canister ($1.38). The top and bottom both come off.

I think I did pretty good for just over $25.

  1. Oh wow you did very well .I've been taking your advise and looking at alternatives for backing . I found I have more luck finding 100% cotton duvets and I get two backs for the price of one sheet .Enjoy your day .

  5. Goodness Michelle, you got some great buys. I never find good deals at our Good Will. They also charge way more than I think they should. Maybe I need to come to Iowa instead of Missouri. LOL Have a good day. Winona

  8. You crack me up with your pillow shams! All of us blogger fiends of yours might have to have an online "intervention" to help you get over your pillow sham addiction! Seriously, I love to hear about all your great finds and what better way to spend a few hours than out thrifting.

  9. Michelle, what a find! I love everything you got. Of course we love the same things. Yes, I know you can duplicate the pattern as described. I have complete confidence in you. I just don't run into the great shams like you do....I'm trying very hard not to be envious! Hey, did you see where MJ sang at The Bluebird Cafe? That's a real honor for a 14 year old songwriter...sorry to brag on your post...

  10. Thanks for visiting my blog today. I'm so glad to meet other Juki domestic users. I'm only on day 1 and I've been sewing all morning on it. I might have a couple of questions for you as I go along. My first question, is what foot do you use for 1/4" seams. I'm using the one that came with it, and I really like it, but for pinned 1/4 work, I'm thinking, I already need another type of 1/4" foot.
