Twenty Five Minutes

The driveway project was supposed to start at 8:00 this morning, but the schedule changed, and we got a call saying the project wouldn’t start until possibly tomorrow. About 11:45am, the contractor called and said he would be over to go over with us just exactly what we wanted done.  Twenty minutes later, he was here, and we made our plans. As he was leaving, (12:15pm) he said they would be back in two hours to start busting up the cement. REALLY???!!!!  Oh BOY!  001                               Well, again, the schedule wasn’t on track, but at 4:00pm, they were back with the bobcat, surveying equipment, and before I hardly could make it from the back yard to the front, they had the bobcat unloaded and were hard at work taking measurements and planning their strategy.                       002                                     (This orange line represents how much is being added to the width of the driveway on the left side of the driveway (about 18”). It will make it much easier for people getting out of their car. You will actually be able to step onto the driveway, and not the lawn, which will be nice, especially in the winter.)013 (2)                          Two of them went to get the dump truck, and the third one started hammering the driveway. Louie and I were quite amazed at how fast this contraption can hammer through cement, and also amazed that the bobcat operator did not have ear plugs in. He’ll be sorry someday.             003 (2) 004 007 008 (2) 009 (2) 011 (2)

Twenty five minutes from the time they arrived, the dump truck was back, parked in the driveway, the bobcat was locked up,  the trailer was blocked in the street, and they were gone….until about 11am Tuesday. They have a driveway to pour in the morning somewhere else, then they will be back to haul away the driveway, and form it up. They plan on pouring cement on Wednesday.  I couldn’t believe how fast those boys moved! They are amazing to watch. It’s almost like watching something choreographed.                     012 (2) 010 (2) 015 (2)                                      I got a couple solar lights today for the porch. We didn’t put them out until 4pm, and the directions said they needed to be in direct sunlight, not in a shaded area. I wondered if they would even work. (click on the picture to make it bigger and see the lights better.)…             018

…but guess what? Can you see them? The porch was really illuminated pretty good, but I just can’t seem to capture it on my camera. I guess you’ll just have to believe me.                    019

Be blessed!

  1. The contractors probably thought you were crazy out there taking all the photos! Be sure to stay out of their way when they start pouring the cement or you just may end up embedded in the driveway!! :)
