384 Cuts Later….

I like sewing quilts, not cutting them out, but today I did just that. I started with these strip sets. All 96 of them. One. At. A. Time. You have to keep strip sets straight when you cut them.

384 cuts makes 384 four and a half inch blocks. (Ok…380, since I had already put one block together…see to the left of the pumpkin). Putting 4 of those four and a half inch blocks together makes ONE block. I will have a total of 96 blocks. I was shooting for 100 blocks so I could make my quilt 10 blocks by 10 blocks, but I didn’t figure the amount of fat quarters correctly, so I think my quilt will by 9 blocks wide by 10 blocks long, and then I’ll probably add some kind of border. I like my quilts big. With the leftover blocks? Not sure yet. Maybe a table runner. Maybe just four leftover blocks. Who knows? Or maybe 4 corner blocks. I guess we will all be surprised! Time will tell, unless Time likes to keep secrets!

Anyway, that chore is done now……What are you doing today?

Be blessed!

  1. I'm trying to decorate for December, but I keep having to stop and cook, wash dishes, vacuum something, run to Walmart.....and I agree with you. I hate cutting out the pieces. Your quilt is going to be very pretty and I look forward to seeing it when it's pieced.

  6. Love your little blocks. I don't have the 18" Shape Cut, only the 12. Think I'll see if JAs has that today while I'm out and about.
Can't wait to see what your quilt is.

  7. Your little blocks are very cute, I'm looking forward to seeing your finished quilt. I've been tempted by the June Tailor Shape Cut ruler, and now even more so, I love advice on tried and true.

  8. Agreed, the cutting is my least favorite part. Too much margin for error for me. My favorite part of the quilt is the planning and picking fabrics!
