Homemade Foaming Hand Soap Refill

This was probably the first homemade version of home cleaning products I made, and I was (and am!) thrilled with how little it costs to do. The trick to make it foam is in the dispenser. It has a dual pump. One for air, and one for soap. When it comes out, it is foam. A regular dispenser will not work. It has to have the dual pump. I just think this is so neat, and CHEAP!

So here’s how you do it. Put ONE tablespoon of Dawn, or any dishwashing soap in the dispenser, then fill to ALMOST the top with water. That’s it! You can adjust it for more soap if you want, but this works for us.

Now go make some foaming hand soap. I know you want to!

  1. This is such a perfect inexpensive way to make foaming soap. I just reuse a dispenser that I already have and make my own foaming soap. I've also used any regular liquid soap I may have on had. BTW, I just purchased a Singer 66-16 from the Thrift Store. I wrote about it on my blog. Just wondered if you have any ideas or input on how to clean this baby up?? She does run smoothly, but is a little dirty and the bed is scratched up a bit. Anything I should be looking for before using it? Also do you know where I can get a darning foot for the vintage Singer?? The reason I bought it was because of the larger harp opening.

  3. Thanks for sharing this. I always dilute liquid hand soap. Also, I keep a spray bottle with diluted dish soap (Dawn, Palmolive, Ivory - one of the better brands) by the kitchen sink. It is so handy when there are just a couple of things to wash.
