Thrift Store Heaven!

Louie and I went junkin’ today. We wanted to spend time together, because he has plans tomorrow and I wanted to get MY time with him before I shared him with anyone else. We got quite a few things today, and one of the last things we bought was this ‘skinny’ end table.

Junkin today 001

Now, I need to tell you, that there is nothing wrong with the top, I just love doilies, and I actually have the doily stretched a little, and ‘hooked’ to the top of the table through the holes in the doily. It is not going to slip off or go anywhere! Rolling on the floor laughing It has a skinny drawer, under an open space. It looks dark to you, but it is actually open space, to stack magazines, books, or an Ipad or Nook, or whatever you want. We really needed something there, because we eat in the living room most of the time Embarrassed smile, and there is nowhere for us to put a cup or plate….or tv remote!

Oh, how much did it cost? It was half price day for furniture at the Salvation Army. $15. I also got this rolling sewing machine tote at the same SA store for $6.25.

Some other stuff I got today…..

I got an empty sewing machine carrying case for 80 cents, and two sewing machine foot controls for $2.38 each. They have the same exact ends that I needed for a sewing machine I bought a few months back that didn’t have a foot control. I ordered one off ebay and spent about $20 for it. Sad smile

I got a nice soft bag to put a sewing machine in that someone donated to The Sewing Machine Project, but didn’t have a case. $3.38.

….and a nice heavy bag/tote and some fabric. Two of the fabrics are Christmas, one is red and white, one is black with a small maroon and white paisley design, and one is some Scooby Doo fabric. I just couldn’t leave it behind. All the fabric cost me less than $8, and there is about 14 yards of fabric there.

I got a nice long quilted red and creme table runner. It is folded in fourths, so that is how long it is. The green and white water pitcher had to come home with me since I left it last week and it was still waiting for me. I loved the green chicken and the bird with ‘jewels’, a dvd of a Christmas fireplace that runs a loop and plays Christmas music, and the movie ‘The Last Song’ with Miley Cyrus. I never got to see it, so now I can. Oh, and the letter openers. I bought a bunch last year, removed the medallions on them and did my own thing with them. I used them as gifts, and when I went to get more, they didn’t have any. Louie found another box of them today, so I bought a dozen more. Rolling on the floor laughing

We found a Cuisinart 5-in-1 Griddler for $11.96 (that’s with the 20% discount that the Disabled American Veteran’s store always has on Saturdays). We have one. We’ve had one for a few years, and we use it all the time. We have never used the griddle plates, but we use the grill plates. They are about worn out. We bought our Cuisinart new, and it was about $130 at the time, so when we found this one in almost brand new condition, we grabbed it!

And, last but not least, I found a red Nook Color ‘jacket’. When I bought my Nook Color, they didn’t’ have red, so I got purple, which was ok, because I like purple, but when I found this one for 1/4th of the cost of a new one, I picked that up too. Rolling on the floor laughing It’s good to change things out once in awhile.

Gee! You’d have thought it was my birthday or something! Oh! That was last week! Rolling on the floor laughing

I thought since I have had such nice remarks about my thrifting abilities and ‘scores’, I thought it would be fair for me to mention that this was an ‘all day’ thrifting adventure, which involved FIVE Goodwill stores in FIVE different cites, TWO Salvation Army stores in ONE city, TWO more SA stores in TWO more cities, and ONE American Veterans store.  TEN stores, FIVE cities. Lots of ‘in and out’s of the car. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! Rolling on the floor laughing

I hope your day was as fun as mine! Oh…… Louie? Yes, he got a few things, but this is ‘my’ blog, and you probably wouldn’t be interested in what he got anyway. ‘Man’ things, ya know? Winking smile

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

Michelle

  13. Lots of great scores! My favorite is the rolling sewing machine bag. I have a few of those, and LOVE them. I'm always looking for more, since they are also a great way to store my machines, especially those that don't have cases.
