Today we had our January quilting day. Renea got the lucky chip with her name on it, so she got to choose which block we would all sew. She got the pattern ready, and we cut it, rotated the pieces, then we each sewed a block or a few blocks together, and this is what she ended up with. The quilt pattern is called Easy Puzzle. The pattern was from the Star quilt company (dated 2004) and designed by Linda Brannock & Rita Briner It is a stack and whack, and then you rotate the pieces in the stack from the top to the bottom to make the scrappy ‘crazy’ look. As we laid them on the floor as we finished a block, Leslie discovered if you laid them out a certain way, you could have four pointed stars. Do you see them? There are also ‘snowballs’ or whatever you want to call them. Six of each. Do you see them?
Renea still needs to square up the blocks, and will probably rearrange the blocks abit, but she liked the stars. It is really a cute quilt! We are really enjoying seeing what each person comes up with for their block choice and we are enjoying sewing just one block. The fun part is for the person who chooses, because she gets to go home with all the blocks to complete a quilt top! It’s the fastest way to make a quilt top, don’t you think?
Renea chose orange for the fabric exchange, so she got the extra stack and took home 16 fat quarters! Look at those yummy fabrics!!!
The lucky chip drawn today by Renea had Patty’s name on it, so in February, Patty will be choosing the block we will sew, and she chose Batiks for the fabric exchange.
It was a wonderful day and sew much fun.
Renea, Pattykins, Leslie, Margaret, KT, Christie, Ronelle, Kate and Polly, you are my ‘besties’! I love you all!

ReplyDeleteLove the new look of your blog. The colors are awesome. Would be really pretty in a quilt. I think I have the orange now to use in a quilt with a little pop of yellow. :)
