Our quilt group met today for November, and Patty chose this month to teach a quilt block. Each of us made four quilt blocks, as seen in the four stacks.
She chose a pattern called ‘Going Home’. The pattern was written by Design Contest Winner Dotti Sharp from Rexburg, Idaho, and was found in the September/October 2003 issue of Quiltmaker magazine.
She had blocks sewn before she got here today, and was making more today as well, so when she started laying out the blocks, along with what we as a group made, this is how it looked. I love it! All the blocks are made the same, but the design is made in the order you lay the blocks.
Patty also chose the color for our Fat Quarter exchange. Yummy Oranges!
KT showed her quilt that she made using the pattern ‘Star Gazing’, that I taught in September, using completely different colors. Isn’t it beautiful?
I sewed another quilt top for the Park View Quilting Ministry.
I got a special treat today when my sister Nancy stopped to see me! She had to come to town for a Dr’s appointment this morning, so she stopped to see me. She also visited with some of the other girls she knew, and she had lunch with us. It was so good to see her. She doesn’t live that far away, but she works a whole different shift than I do, and she works weekends, so we just don’t get to connect much. It was so good to see her.
After quilting was over, my brother and sisterinlove came over to see us. We went for a drive to see all the different places (Bernard, St. Donatus, Lamotte, Key West, and a couple places in rural Dubuque) that Louie plays pool, on Wednesday nights, since he joined another league this year. We saw country I had never seen, and we saw a huge buck with an 8 point rack cross the road in front of us. After we had seen all those places, we decided to have supper at Breitbach’s in Balltown (for GPS users, technically, 563 Balltown Rd, Sherrill, IA).
It was a wonderful day. I hope you had one too!
I bet that drive thru the country was pretty.
