Today I made another quilt top from a kit I got from the Park View Lutheran Quilting Ministry. I always enjoy putting tops together for them.
I used my ‘new to me’ Janome 6600 I got yesterday, after Louie and I made a few adjustments to the placement of the machine in the cabinet. We needed to move the machine to the right, and he needed to drill another hole for me for the presser foot lifter, or it was difficult to get my chair and my legs under the cabinet to sew. One has to be comfortable!
The process also required adding a block of wood to the left of the machine to fill in the space in the opening, and painting the top of the wood white. Louie also needed to put a screw through the track which is used to rise and lower the machine carriage. The screw will keep the carriage from dropping any lower. He also lifted the carriage up just a bit before he put the screw in the track, since an adjustment knob on the right side of the machine was basically holding up the machine, and not the motor housing as I previously thought. That wasn’t good.
I have decided to just leave the machine sitting out, instead of closing the top and moving the machine to the floor under the cabinet. I like looking at it.
Have a wonderful, short work week, and a blessed and Merry CHRISTmas. It IS all about HIM, you know!
I love the quilt. I imagine it is exciting to see how each one will turn out. Such a wonderful thing you are doing. Glad you got to sew on your new machine.
