Homemade Hand Scrub

Earlier this year, when I saw the recipe for Gardener’s Hand Scrub on One Good Thing by Jillee  ’s blog, I made some. No, I’m not a gardener. Not even close to being a gardener. I work in a factory. I get dirty! I wear rubber gloves to keep my hands clean, but the inside of my forearms get dirty, and getting them clean is not easy.  I just ran out, so I made another little jar of it. I keep it on my bathroom counter.

This year, I have really been getting into the homemade cleaning products. I think they do a wonderful job, and I enjoy making them. It’s kind of fun! Rolling on the floor laughing This little recipe works like a miracle on what I call ‘ground in dirt’. It costs so little to make, and it really, really works! I just fill my little jar 1/2 to 2/3rds with sugar, then I squeeze Dawn with Olay Hand Renewal in the Pomegranate Splash scent on top of the sugar until it gets just to the bottom of the neck of the jar, then stir. Next, you just adjust with more sugar, or Dawn, until you get the consistency you like.

All it takes is just a ‘dip into the jar’ with the tips of a couple fingers. I add a little water from the faucet, start lathering it into my hands, then I start scrubbing the inside of both of my forearms. The sugar gets to the ‘ground-in’ oil, dirt and mineral spirits, (and sugar is good for your skin…it’s a natural healing agent…google it if you don’t believe me) and brings the grime all out. The sugar also dissolves easily and goes down the drain without causing problems with the plumbing! The Dawn moisturizes my skin, while I get clean.

Rinse, dry, and ‘ahhhhhh’. It feels good, and no more grime! It really works!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

  2. Sounds nice. I love a good sugar scrub in the bath, too. Maybe I'll try this when I get home.

  5. I think I'll file this away for next year! Bet it smells good too.
I should wear gloves but often don't. And when you're pinching the plants back I know where the term 'green thumb' comes from!
